Why Vaillant Appliances Need Specialist Repair

Vaillant appliances incorporate advanced proprietary systems that require certified engineers with brand-specific training to diagnose and repair correctly.

Diagnostic Systems

Vaillant appliances use integrated electronic diagnostics. Our engineers connect directly to Vaillant control boards using brand-specific tools to read fault codes and pinpoint issues accurately.

Genuine Parts

Every repair uses genuine Vaillant spare parts sourced directly from authorised distributors. Original components ensure compatibility, performance and longevity — backed by a manufacturer warranty.

Safety Standards

Vaillant appliances must meet strict UK safety regulations. Our certified engineers follow Vaillant service procedures and test every repair to BS EN standards before sign-off.

Smart Connectivity

Many Vaillant appliances feature Wi-Fi connectivity and smart home integration. Our engineers can diagnose firmware issues, reset connectivity modules and restore remote control functionality.

Common Vaillant Error Codes

What does the F.35 error mean on a Vaillant boiler?

The F.35 error indicates the air or flue pipe is blocked. Visually inspect the external flue terminal for obvious blockages you can safely remove. Contact a Gas Safe registered engineer for internal inspection.

What does the F.20 error mean on a Vaillant boiler?

The F.20 error means the safety thermal cut-out has activated, shutting the boiler off to prevent overheating. Allow the boiler to cool completely and check that all radiator valves are open. If the error persists, contact a Gas Safe registered engineer.

What does the F.523 error mean on a Vaillant heat pump?

The F.523 error means the VF1 sensor has a fault affecting system monitoring. Contact a qualified heating engineer for professional diagnosis.

What does the F.22 error mean on a Vaillant boiler?

The F.22 error indicates low water pressure in the heating system. Top up the pressure using the filling loop until the gauge shows between 1.0 and 1.5 bar. If pressure drops repeatedly, contact a Gas Safe registered engineer to check for leaks.

What does the F.84 error mean on a Vaillant boiler?

The F.84 error means temperature differences between sensors are implausible, suggesting multiple sensor faults. Contact a Gas Safe registered engineer to diagnose which sensors require replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I repressurise my Vaillant boiler?

Turn off the boiler and let it cool. Locate the filling loop (a silver flexible hose beneath the boiler) with a handle valve and isolation valve. Open the isolation valve with a flat-head screwdriver by turning anticlockwise until aligned with the pipe. Then open the handle valve anticlockwise to allow water flow. Watch the pressure gauge and stop when it reaches between 1 and 1.5 bar. Close the handle valve first, then the isolation valve, both clockwise. Restart the boiler and check it operates normally.

What is a hybrid heating system?

A hybrid heating system combines two different heating technologies to offer better overall efficiency. Typically this means a gas boiler paired with an air source heat pump. The system automatically switches between the heat pump and boiler depending on which is most efficient at any given time, giving you the energy efficiency of a heat pump with the rapid heating capability of a boiler.

Do I need planning permission for a Vaillant heat pump?

In England, as of 29th May 2025, most air source heat pump installations no longer require planning permission from your local authority. Planning rules still apply in Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, so check with your local authority before installation.

Can lowering my thermostat save money on heating?

Yes, reducing your room temperature by just one degree can achieve up to 6% savings on your heating costs. Modern condensing boilers and heat pumps are highly efficient, so even small temperature adjustments can lead to meaningful savings without significantly affecting comfort.

How much space does a heat pump require?

Vaillant heat pumps come in various sizes to suit different properties. Indoor units range from small dresser-sized units to larger cabinet-sized systems. Outdoor units for air source heat pumps are typically compact and can be installed against an external wall. A qualified installer can advise on the best configuration for your available space.
